In many industries, efficient, sustainable energy management is becoming an increasingly important factor in influencing corporate success. Steadily increasing energy prices lead to significant hikes in energy and manufacturing costs - calling for production processes that incorporate both greater efficiency and reduced energy consumption. The main energy drivers, however, are often unrecognized, with energy-saving potentials in the order of profit margins remaining untapped.

Achieving maximized energy efficiency in the life cycle assessment (LCA) on a continuous, sustainable basis requires the development of cross-company management programs.

The IBS:MES system fulfils energy efficiency management system requirements in accordance with DIN EN 16001 and enables, inter alia, the acquisition of energy data in the production process and offers analysis systems as a basis for load optimisation.

The acquisition, visualisation and evaluation of all energy data enables the initiation of measures increasing energy consumption efficiency and thus also cost-savings, e.g. by measuring and analyzing the energy consumption of individual machines or machine parts. Conclusions can then be drawn, regarding “energy guzzlers” in the production process, as well as energy consumption in relation to the materials and tools used.

The use of all the MES functionalities of an integrated system leads to greater transparency in the production process, a reduction in reject rates and reduced raw materials consumption, along with a reduction in rework and all energy costs.
